PIV SYSTEMS

TSI PIV systems measure velocity by determining particle displacement over a precisely selected time using a double-pulsed laser technique. A laser light sheet illuminates a plane in the flow, and the positions of particles (naturally present or added to the flow to have sufficient number of scatterers) in that plane are recorded using a digital camera. A short time (micro or milliseconds) later, a second pulse illuminates the same plane, creating a second set of particle images. From these sets of images, unique PIV analysis algorithms obtain the particle displacements for the imaged region, to give the velocity information at thousands of locations-quickly, easily, reliably. Flow properties such as vorticity and strain rates are obtained for the entire region. Mean velocity, turbulence intensity, and higher order statistics are also obtained.

MicroPIV systems measure the global flow fields in MEMS and microchannels, while High Frame Rate systems provide time resolved measuremenst with kHz update rates. TSI systems using patented Hart and Rohaly-Hart correlations and MicroPIV rechniques give the most accurate results. PIV/PLIF systems measure velocity and scalar properties.

UPDATE YOUR PIV SYSTEM – AT A VERY ATTRACTIVE PRICE! — March 27, 2008-  TSI cameras are well-known for their performance, compact size, and long-lasting durability resulting from the protective CCD mask. After five to ten years, however, technology has advanced to the point where new cameras offer significantly greater speed, resolution, and ease-of-use. That's why we are offering this limited-time trade in program for customers with PIVCAM10-30, Kodak ES1.0, PowerView 2M, and PowerView 4M cameras. Take 25% off the price of a new camera when you trade in your old camera for the sensitivity and resolution of a new PowerView Plus 2MP or 4MP camera. The old camera does not even have to work! UPDATE YOUR PIV SYNCHRONIZER – AND TRIGGER SOMETHING GLOBAL! — March 26, 2008-  TSI LaserPulse Synchronizers are well-known for their role in ushering in the age of digital particle image velocimetry and revolutionizing PIV measurement speed and convenience. In the past several years, there have been major advances in Global Imaging systems for fluid mechanics research. No longer are we limited to PIV measurements alone. It is now possible to perform a range of other measurements, such as Global Sizing and Velocimetry (GSV), for droplet velocity and size, Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF), for measuring scalar properties in flows such as concentration or temperature, Direct Image Particle Analysis (DIPA), for measuring the size, shape, and velocity of object such as bubbles, droplets, or particles in multiphase flows, as well as spray patternation and analysis.
